We get asked all the time what the home buying process looks like, so we decided to create a general overview to help you decide if buying is right for you!
Although the general rule of thumb is that buying your home can be very rewarding, renting might still make sense for you depending on financial and lifestyle goals, as well as macroeconomic factors. There are certain times when buying a given home at a particular price is a bad idea. To see if buying is the right move for you financially, you'll first want to talk with your financial advisor, parents, or somebody you trust to help give you advice on what to do with your money.
After you've run the numbers and decided that it's the right time for you to buy a home, you'll want to reach out to a lender. A lender is the professional that can give you the loan you'll need to buy your house. After a phone call and some emails, they'll look at your overall financial picture and tell you how much of a loan you'll qualify for. If you need to work on your credit or pay down some debt, they'll let you know the necessary steps to take to get your financial health where it needs to be. You can think of the lender as your financial doctor. The lender is a very important part of the home buying process so you'll want to choose a dependable and trustworthy lender. The preferred lender for MoveGroove is Travis Taylor with UFCU, feel free to give him a call anytime!
Now that you've decided that buying is right for you and you're approved for a loan amount, you'll want to decide what neighborhood and property type will best suit your financial and lifestyle goals. Your MoveGroove agent will guide you through this process by collaborating both online and in person to see which type of home is best for you! If you're like most people, this part of the process can be the longest and can take several property tours, but fear not! Once you know what you're looking for, it's very easy to find!
Once you've found the perfect place, your MoveGroove Realtor will help you write up an offer to buy the property at a price that makes sense. Now, after the offer is accepted, the contract period begins. This is the part of a real estate transaction that isn't necessarily intuitive and where it's especially important to have a knowledgeable Realtor to guide you through the process. Alex will explain in a video below!
In this video Alex will explain what goes down during the contract period, between the time when the offer is accepted and closing! It's intentionally oversimplified as this part of the process can vary the most with each deal, but it will give you a good idea of what to expect!
Congratulations! You've bought your home and you're ready to move in! Although the home buying process is now complete, your MoveGroove agent will always be available in the future to answer any questions you might have! And remember, a referral is the best compliment you can give!
